BTB summer shows and Acoustic night at the College Street Pub

It’s been a busy summer for Back To Blue!  We’ve been gigging heavily at various places around the Metroplex; from the Dallas House of Blues to a very cool place called “Tap In” in Grapevine, to Arlington and back down to Ellis County for a RAWKIN set at The Rockett Cafe!  Needless to say I’ve had little time to post!  

I will be returning to the College Street Pub (home base for Back To Blue) for an acoustic solo set on Thursday, August 2, 2012.  If you haven’t been to the pub, it’s a little slice of Britain settled right in the heart of Waxahachie, TX!  You’re sure to enjoy the authentic British fare, and the pints of ale go without saying!

I am a proud American for sure, but I’m not the type to flaunt or boast about it.  I did a double-take when I saw this picture of me camping last weekend!  Go USA!!

Marching On

The first 3 months of 2012 are almost done.  Wow.  So far this year, Back To Blue has had a number of successful shows in Grapevine and Waxahachie.  We’ve really enjoyed playing at the Tap In, and as always it’s great to get back to the College Street Pub, our “home base”.

Thanks to everyone who came to our home for the St Patrick’s party.  Cheryl and I were so glad to see you all.  There was some good karaoke, and it was very cathartic (for me) to jam with Rick and Jim in the late hours.  We played some old Davenport tunes that haven’t been heard since we split up back in 2002.  It was lot’s o’ fun.

Recent writing sessions with the Eric and Rick have been going well, with a good number of new tunes in the oven!  Hopefully soon we’ll be ready to debut one or two of them.  The new stuff is very much a collaborative effort.  We work well together, if I do say so myself.

I’ve also been doing some freelance singing in my home studio, thanks to studiotraxx.com.  Don’t look for me to post anything, however.  I’ll leave it up to the author of the songs to release that material.  It’s been a neat experience – worth mentioning for sure.

New Year’s Eve

The Bug is Back

I think there must be something in the air, flaring that old creative itch.  Seems like there’s a lot of exciting stuff going on right now:  Rick Fontaine’s new record is out (or is about to be), Joseph Wayne Miller has got some great new recordings, Saratoga Red is back, and I’m currently flipping the coin on 3 different concepts to move forward on (can’t decide on a direction – too much brain activity).  Back To Blue will be in full face melting force with a weekend double-header, Friday at the Tap In Pub in Grapevine, and Saturday at the Wooden Nickel in Ennis.  Good Times!

Up Next

Last night was a fun acoustic night at the College Street Pub in Waxahachie. Great energy from everyone there! Thanks! (I missed the back-beat, though).

Next on the schedule at El Arroyo Restaurant in Arlington on Tuesday, August 30 at 7:30 PM. We’ll be with Carl back on the skins (yay)! It’ll be a hot one, but they’ve got misting fans, and more importantly, margaritas!

It’s Pub Night!
